About MBSR
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an mental health program designed to bring people together for eight weeks of mindfulness training, with each session lasting 2 ½ hours. Additionally, there is a full-day retreat during the second half of the course. The goal of MBSR is to help participants cultivate a consistent mindfulness practice, both formally and informally. Throughout the course, participants engage in mindfulness exercises, meditation practices, and discussions on how to incorporate mindfulness into daily life. Although mindfulness is a natural capacity, it is often forgotten as we fall into the hectic routines of modern living.
By intentionally focusing on the present moment with an open, non-judgmental curiosity, participants enhance their awareness and learn to break free from the habitual "autopilot" mode and the constant demands of a busy life. This practice fosters a sense of "being" rather than always "doing," allowing individuals to become more aware of their body sensations, thought patterns, and emotions. It teaches that thoughts and emotions are not fixed truths; they come and go, and we can choose how to respond to them. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, we learn to understand the messages behind these experiences. By recognizing and addressing our stress responses in new ways, we can discover more creative approaches to the challenges we face in everyday life.
