Treatment Philosophy
Together
The process of emotional healing begins when we dare to face ourselves honestly. We can then gradually begin to develop an understanding of what happens to us in difficult life situations. It is not easy to figure that out alone. When we are stressed, feel lost or are stuck in a crisis, the presence and guidance of another person helps. Most of the time there is one or more triggers that precipitated a difficult situation. Identifying triggers may guide us towards a solution. An effective and valuable exchange with a therapist can help to gain more clarity.
Knowledge and Growth
The important skill of understanding and managing our own emotions can be learned. Therapy invites you to get a better understanding of yourself, your behavior and your feelings. During that process, our personal goals and what is important to us often becomes clearer. Better understanding and practice can effectively lead to changes in how we feel, behave and choose to live. When we know exactly what we want to change and have identified what exactly weighs on us, change becomes possible. Sessions are invitation to find that out together. My goal in therapy is to offer you a tailor-made mix of helpful techniques. The techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction are based on many years of research and have been proven to help alleviate mental suffering. During the sessions it is important to me to create a safe space where you can be yourself. Authenticity and rediscovering your personal truth and values is a crucial guide to making a change.
Mindfulness and Calm
Our minds and bodies are powerful allies. During therapy or coaching, I encourage practicing mindfulness. During the session you will have the opportunity to learn helpful breathing and meditation techniques that can help you relax or fall asleep better. In the long run, such techniques allow you to independently identify stress and anxiety in the body more quickly. Bodily awareness can help to regulate difficult emotional states and increases well-being in the long term.
